Total Conditioning Xtreme Workout

When I worked at Lifetime Fitness, almost eight years ago, they offered a class called TCX (Total Conditioning Xtreme). TCX was my favorite class to teach and take. It was the perfect blend of strength and cardio for 60 minutes.

I like to go through my old workouts from time to time and came across this workout from when I was teaching group fitness at Lifetime. If you don’t have a step you do all the exercises on level ground. The only other thing you will need is a set of heavy and medium weights.

The workout features six different sets of exercises. For set 1 do the pushups, sit-ups, and burpees, and then rest for 30 seconds before doing another round. Once you have finished all three rounds rest for 60 seconds before starting the next set.

This entire workout should take an 45 minutes to an hour to complete. If you only have 20 or 30 minutes pick several sets for a modified version of this workout.

If you really want to challenge yourself perform each round at a different tempo. Tempo is the time your muscles are working under tension and is the rate or pace each exercise is performed. This gets hard fast. For example if I were teaching this class and leading the pushups I would say ” Let’s lower down for a count of 1 2 3 4 and come back up with a count of 1.” The next round I could switch that up and lower for a count of 1 and come up with a count of 1 2 3 4.

I would love to know if you try this workout and what you think. Have a great day and thanks for reading.

30 Minute Total Body Workout

It has been forever since I actually shared a workout. I hope to start sharing more workouts on here and to update the workout page with previous workouts I have posted.

I have been exercising about 4-6 days a week consistently since February and it feels amazing. We don’t have a gym membership so I am getting up in the morning before everyone in the house is awake and exercising at home. Over the years we have accumulated a nice variety of workout equipment for at home use. For this workout you will need a stability ball and a set of dumbbells. I used 15 pounds for the squat to shoulder press and the walking lunges but you can go lighter or heavier if needed.

This is a quick circuit style workout that will have you sweating and leave you feeling accomplished when you have finished. Move from one exercise to the next. Once you have finished rest for 1 minute and repeat for 2 more rounds. It should take you around 30 minutes to finish.

These are my favorite type of workouts because they are over and done quickly and contain a variety of exercises. If you try it I would love to hear how it went!

All Levels Total Body Workout

Once upon a time, several years ago, I started an online bootcamp. Some of you longtime readers may remember this or perhaps even joined in the fun. It had been awhile since I had looked at these workouts and I had forgotten how many I had. These workouts are sitting on my computer and I decided to use them for the next few weeks at home for my own workouts.

The all levels total body workout can adjust to your time available as well as fitness level. If you need a shorter workout you can follow the newbie option. Lots of ways to make this workout fit your needs.

I did the intermediate option this morning and it took me 40 minutes. I did circuit 1 twice, circuit 2 twice, circuit 3 twice, followed by 3 minutes of cardio. Let me know if you decide to try it and how you did!
