Stitch Fix #1 (Maternity Style)

I finally decided to take the plunge. After 3 years of seeing others post about their love for Stitch Fix (affiliate link) I filled out my style profile, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best.

Going into this I had really low expectations and didn’t think I would be super happy when my box arrived with my clothes. I am super picky over what I wear, especially right now. Being pregnant and parenting a 4 and 2 year old I want to be comfortable all the time. This generally means wearing baggy shirts and leggings. My poor husband. I think the majority of our marriage he has seen me in either pajamas or workout clothes. I am really wanting to be more stylish and somewhat put together, but the struggle to stay in my lululemon studio pants is REAL!

If you are unfamiliar with Stitch Fix here is how it works…

1. Start by filling out your style profile – you will answer questions on sizing, pricing, preferences, colors, etc. You can also write notes about likes/dislikes.

2. Order your first fix! Your card will be charged a $20 styling fee but, if you keep any item [one or more] you will be credited back the $20. You will receive 5 items [made up of clothing, jewelry, and handbags, whatever you prefer].

3. When your fix arrives you have 3 business days to decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back. You will be given a postage paid envelope to mail back any items you do not wish to purchase. If you keep all 5 items you will receive 25% off your entire fix.

Stitch Fix is not a subscription service and you are able to decide when you want another fix, whether that be in 6 months or every two weeks. Right now I have mine scheduled for every 3 months.

When I signed up for my first fix I made sure to note that I didn’t really need/want any pants but I was looking for tops and possibly a dress that I could wear now and after the baby the was born. I also wasn’t looking for any “maternity” items.

I am not a fan of the tops with the side elastic. My stylist totally delivered and I really liked everything she sent. On a side note Stitch Fix does offer maternity specific clothing if that is something you are interested in. I also really enjoyed the style card with outfit ideas that was included in my box as well as being able to try on these items with clothes I already own.

For reference I am currently 25 weeks pregnant with baby #3. I had to look up on a due date calculator how far along I am. That is the difference between baby #1 and baby #3. I knew exactly how many weeks plus day I was with my first pregnancy. With this baby I know I will be in the hospital ready to push thinking to myself “Is it really time to do this?”

This dress would NEVER be something I would pick out for myself but it is super comfortable, the length and neckline is modest, and I can move in it.

2. Loveappella Wilsen Contrast Sleeve Knit Top – Small – $48 – Kept

This top was so cute on. Again, I wouldnt have picked it out because of the patterned sleeves but I loved it.

3. 41Hawthorn Queensland Dolamn Jersey Top – Small – $48 – Kept

Loved, loved, loved this top. It is perfect for my growing baby bump and offers lots of coverage and I know it will be so flattering after the baby is born. This was Josh’s favorite item.

4. Moon and Sky Farine Crochet Detail Knit Top – Small – $48 – Kept

I love tops like this and haven’t had any like this in my closet for quite some time. After Caden was born my clothes that I wore pre-preganacy didn’t fit like I was used so I sadly donated a few favorites that reminded me of this top and the next. I was excited to see two tops that were loose and longer that would work for pregnancy and afterwards.

You can see my lovely varicose veins in my right leg if you look closely. Looking forward to getting these treated again after the baby is born.

5. Moon and Sky Valri Crochet Detail Knit Top – Small – $54 – Kept

This is probably my favorite item I was sent. It is so soft, extra long, and I really like the detailing on the front of the shirt.

There you have it friends. My first ever Stitch Fix. Most of these items I would have never picked out for myself but I am super happy and pleasantly surprised with what was sent. Do you Stitch Fix?

Special thanks to Josh for taking all these pictures! We set a record and got all these done in 10 minutes, and that was with outfit changes :).

  1. Hi Tamara:
Congrats on (surprise!) baby 3. What a blessing!
Those are very pretty tops and they look great on you! I really like #3, the jersey knit dolman sleeve. I love that style of shirt!
I can’t believe the photo session took 10 minutes! You guys rock!
    Take care…

  2. You look great! I’m only one week behind you in my pregnancy so it’s fun to see someone who is at the same stage as me 🙂
