Starting Fresh: Reflections on 13 Years of Blogging, Motherhood, and Change

It’s Hard to Believe It’s Been 13 Years

I’ve been writing on this little corner of the internet since 2013.

Honestly, that feels absolutely wild to type.

Over the past thirteen years, there have been seasons when I wrote constantly and seasons when I barely wrote at all. This website has quietly followed me through some of the biggest changes in my life.

When I first started blogging, I was a young mom documenting life with a growing family and sharing my fitness journey after having babies. It was a place to celebrate milestones, work through challenges, and connect with other women navigating similar seasons of life.

Why I Slowly Stopped Writing

As the years passed, life changed.

My husband and I eventually made the decision that we no longer wanted to share our children publicly online. It wasn’t a decision we made overnight, but one we felt increasingly convicted about. The challenge was that my children were such a large part of my everyday life. When I stopped sharing them, I found myself sharing less and less until eventually I stopped writing altogether.

There was another reason too.

Over the years, I discovered that photos from my website were being taken and used by other people. Some used photos of me. Some used photos of my children. The strangest incident involved a photograph of my wedding ring.

One day, an investigator showed up at my doorstep looking into a case of insurance fraud. Someone had submitted a claim to their insurance company stating that their wedding ring had been stolen. The photo they provided as evidence? It was my wedding ring.

The investigator had traced the image back to my website and eventually determined that the claimant was attempting to use my photograph to support a fraudulent insurance claim.

Even now, years later, that story sounds unbelievable.

Experiences like that forced me to think carefully about what I wanted to share online and what I wanted to keep private. Slowly, I stepped away from this space altogether.

But here’s the thing…

Even when I stopped publishing here, I never really stopped writing. Life changed, seasons shifted, and there were long stretches when this space sat quiet, but the desire to write never went away.

Over the years I’ve continued homeschooling my children, learning new things, growing in my faith, pursuing health and fitness, creating curriculum, reading countless books, and navigating all the joys and challenges that come with motherhood.

I’ve changed a lot since 2013.

My children have grown. My priorities have shifted. And while I may not be sharing the same things I shared thirteen years ago, I still have a desire to write.

So this isn’t really a relaunch.

It’s a fresh start.

What You’ll Find Here

You’ll find less personal family content here and more of the things I’ve spent years learning and building: homeschooling resources, fitness and healthy living, books and curriculum, faith, encouragement, and the practical realities of creating a meaningful life at home.

I don’t have a grand plan for where this website is headed. In some ways, that’s what makes this season exciting.

I’m simply showing up again.

Writing again.

Creating again.

And after all these years, that feels like a pretty good place to start.

So whether you’ve been reading since the early days or you’ve just stumbled across this website for the first time, welcome.

I’m glad you’re here.
