The Mama Confessionals: I Locked My Kid In The Car

Well, it happened. The day I never thought would happen. At 10:52 am this morning I locked my kid in the car. After buckling Caden into his carseat and shutting his door, I placed my hand on the door handle fully expecting it to open like it always does but it didn't budge. Searching my diaper bag for my keys was pointless because I could see them inside the car on the my seat.  After attempting to open all the other doors, including the trunk, I called 911. The 911 operator told me the more relaxed I stayed the better it would be for my 19 month old. Umm...I just locked my baby in the car! I was ready to bust the window open with my diaper bag if needed to get him out. But instead I said a quick prayer and begin to play peek-a-boo with him. Thank goodness for that sweet 911 operator reassuring me I was not a bad parent and that if I was ever going to lock my child in the car the weather today was ideal for such a dilemma. With the fire department in route to my location the call … [Read more...]

200 Rep Challenge

I am so incredibly excited that today is the last day to register for my online bootcamp, because that means that it is about to start! For the last few months I have been dreaming, planning, and sweating trying to make this happen. I am so amazingly happy and very blessed by the support that you have all shown me by signing up. It means so much! I have to say a big thank you to Shay from Mix and Match Mama and also to Sheaffer from Pinterest Told Me To for helping to get the word out about my bootcamp! You ladies are awesome! These last few weeks have been so insanely busy but I am loving it! Finalizing workouts, editing video (I am by no means a professional videographer), invoicing, and lots of praying. It has been an amazing almost 15 months since Caden has come along. One of most important things I have learned is that little eyes are always watching. Little eyes are always learning. I am so blessed to have Josh. Without him there is no way any of of these dreams of mine would … [Read more...]

CrossFit Inspired Cardio

I have a super fun workout challenge for you today! All you need is yourself and a pair of running shoes. I like to do this workout at the track but it can be done anywhere. If you are running outside and not on a treadmill you can use MapMyRun to route your mile. But before I share the workout I want talk about this kid for a second... Oh Caden I love you so much, and you never cease to amaze me with your super human baby strength. Seriously, this little guy is going to put both myself and Josh to shame. We have one cabinet in the kitchen that we did not baby proof that contains our tupperware. Caden loves to play with the lids and containers so we left that cabinet open for him to explore. This past weekend I was shocked when he took the biggest lid we have and proceeded to do this... He made his own push sled! He tried to roll the weight on top of the lid but couldn't get it on his own so I helped him and then he took off. Up and down the hallway for 20 minutes. I … [Read more...]

Caden’s Birth Story

Today Caden is 1 year old and I am sharing his birth story! Happy birthday baby boy! Two weeks before Caden was born our air-conditioning quit working. While we were waiting for our insurance to determine if they would cover a new unit Josh and I packed up a few necessities and stayed with my parents. Nothing like a big slumber party with your family! While we were staying with my parents we had our 37 week check up with the OB and an ultrasound. My ultrasound had been on Monday and by Wednesday both Josh and myself were anxiously awaiting to have a new air conditioner installed so we could return home. Wednesday morning I woke up and headed to the gym for a swim and made my way over to our house to meet with the insurance agent. After a long morning and afternoon spent sweating in our little sauna of a townhouse we were informed our insurance company would not cover a new unit. The rest of the day was spent contacting companies and getting quotes. Thankfully we found an amazing … [Read more...]

My Breastfeeding Story

For the next few weeks I am going to be sharing my experiences as a first time mommy and what has worked for our family during this past (very soon to be) year. Sigh. I can’t believe my baby is going to be year old in June. If you are just joining me here are my previous posts: Baby Registry Must Haves On Becoming Baby Wise  1st Trimester Recap 2nd Trimester Recap 3rd Trimester Recap Homemade Baby Food Essentials Feeding The Baby: The First Year It seems appropriate that after talking yesterday about feeding Caden solids now would be an excellent time to share my breastfeeding story. I knew before I was even pregnant with Caden that my goal was going to be to breastfeed my babies. I approached breastfeeding just like I do anything in my life that I have no clue about, I asked a ton of questions. I talked with my friends, clients, and ob and read tons of articles on the internet. I was in completely uncharted territory about what was going to be happening to my … [Read more...]

On Becoming Babywise

For the next few weeks I am going to be sharing my experiences as a first time mommy and what has worked for our family during this past (very soon to be) year. Sigh. I can't believe my baby is going to be year old in June. If you are with child or looking for a baby shower gift be sure to check out my Baby Registry Must Haves. Josh and I decided early on in our pregnancy with Caden that we would be following the schedule outlined in On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the GIFT of Nighttime Sleep. We know there are many differing opinions on this book but for us it has been one of the best decisions we have made for our family. If you have never heard of Babywise take a few minutes and google the title. Bloggers and reviewers have devoted entire websites to this book, both for and against. I am not going to debate this book or tell you it is the right choice for all babies, because there is no such thing. What I am going to do is explain how this method worked for me and my … [Read more...]
